Board of Advisors (BOA)

Purpose

Serve as a strategic partner to HDO leadership, helping to optimize the program, strengthen its impact, and bring HDO’s vision to life.

Commitment Level

  • Term:Fixed 2-year term, renewable.

  • Time:Approx. 40–60 hours per year.

  • Structure:Formal and structured with defined expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend ≥75% of meetings & the annual in-person meeting.
  • Serve on at least one committee or working group.
  • Actively mentor students and support career outplacement.
  • Assist with student recruitment and board nominations.

Friends of HDO

Purpose

Form a supportive community to extend HDO’s network of advocates and mentors, providing flexible support and creating a pipeline for future BOA members.

Commitment Level

  • Term:No fixed term; reviewed annually.

  • Time:Approx. 10–20 hours per year.

  • Structure:Flexible and informal with ad hoc opportunities.

Opportunities for Engagement

  • Attend one open BOA meeting per year.
  • Provide ad hoc mentoring, capstone reviews, or industry feedback.
  • Assist with student outplacement through career advice and introductions.
  • Serve as an informal ambassador and support recruitment.
